A reworked lower-ground layout transformed the relationship between the house and garden. By turning the stair, a direct line of connection was created from the front door through to the rear garden, giving the house a clearer sense of flow and orientation.
The new two-storey rear extension uses glass carefully to bring light deep into the plan. The stair descends beside a glazed wall and roof with a glass-to-glass junction, while a 9m² roof-light floods the centre of the open-plan ground floor with daylight.
A lit glass floor outside the bathroom adds drama, and the oak-framed bathroom window opens on struts from beside the bath, giving a highly tailored detail to a compact space.
